Each week, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All cases are heard at Suffolk Superior Court, located at 3 Pemberton Square in Boston, Mass.

On Tuesday, June 17, Christopher W. Powell, 40, charged with the murder of Corey Thompson, 44, is scheduled to appear in court for a motion hearing.

Edwin J. Alemany, 29, accused of killing 24-year-old Amy Lord, will appear for a status review hearing.

Jael Romero, 23, charged with the murders of Ana Cruz, 22, Felix Garcia, 22, and Brian Tirado, 23, will appear for a pretrial conference.

On Thursday, June 19, Angeliea Brown, 33, charged with the murder of 73-year-old Winston Fields, will appear in court for a status conference.

Diovanni Carter, 24, charged with Jajuan Griffin’s, 27, murder, is scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing.

Kewon Kelley, 27, charged with the February 2013 murder of Rayshawn Lamont Few, also 27, will appear for a compliance hearing.

Craig Marriro Killed in Roxbury; For Family, a Pain All Too Familiar

On Sunday night, Craig Marriro, 48, of Roxbury, was shot to death outside his family home at 131 Harold Street in Roxbury.

Friday Shooting Victim IDed as Michael DePina, Peace Activist’s Brother

Michael DePina, 29, of Dorchester, has been identified as Friday night’s shooting victim.

Just after 8:40 p.m. Friday Boston Police officers arrived on the scene near 5 Taft Street, in Dorchester, and found DePina suffering from gun shot wounds near an overturned motorcycle. DePina was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Week in Review

In brief:

One homicide was reported in Boston this week. On Friday evening officers responded to calls for shots fired near 5 Tate Street in Dorchester where they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim in this homicide has yet to be identified. Boston police ask that any information about this incident be called in to the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

Weekend Read: Victims’ Families Protest Parole for Juvenile Offenders

The Liberty Voice reported Thursday that on Wednesday, May 14, families of homicide victims gathered at the Massachusetts State House in protest of a recent Supreme Judicial Court ruling that will allow juveniles convicted of first-degree murder a chance at parole.

Yesterday families of homicide victims gathered at the Massachusetts State House to protest a Supreme Judicial Court ruling which will allow a chance at parole for juveniles convicted of first-degree murder. Representatives of murder victims Beth Brodie, Amy Carnevale, Janet Downing, Lewis Jennings and Bonnie Sue Mitchell met at noon to present 15,000 signatures in protest of the recent ruling.

The call came on Christmas Eve,” said Erin Downing, 37, of Boston.

Downing’s mother, Janet, was murdered, stabbed 98 times by her brother’s best friend Edward O’Brien in 1995. The then 15-year-old O’Brien was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole. But that could change.

Week in Review

In brief:
Two homicides were reported in Boston this week.

- Dominique Boveill, 20, was found suffering from gunshot wounds near Tremont and Camden Streets at 4:27 a.m. Sunday morning. Boveill was transported to Boston Medical Center where he later died.

- Shannon Richardson Jr., 25, was shot and killed near 742 Dudley Street on Wednesday. Richardson, running from his assailant, was shot several times in the back. He made his way to a local store where officers later came to his aid.

Peter Carvalho, 25, of Dorchester, was arraigned Thursday for the murder of Shannon Richardson Jr., 25. A plea of not-guilty was entered on his behalf by defense attorney Kelli Porges. Carvalho returns to court June 23.

On Thursday, May 29, Omar Bonner and Omar Denton return to court for “miscellaneous matters” hearings. Bonner, 26, and Denton, 29, are on trial for the December 14 murder of Romeo McCubbin.

Dominique Boveill Identified as Victim in Fatal May 18 Shooting

In the early hours of Sunday, May 18, Boston Police officers responded to calls for shots fired in the area of Tremont and Camden Streets. On arriving officers found a black male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Boston Medical Center where he later died.

The victim in this shooting has been identified as Dominique Boveill, 20, of Mattapan.

The murder is currently under investigation; there are no suspects at this time.
