Each week, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All cases are heard at Suffolk Superior Court, located at 3 Pemberton Square in Boston, Mass.

On Tuesday, July 1, Omar Bonner, 26, accused of killing 25-year-old Romeo McCubbin in December 2013, will appear for a motion hearing.

Bonner’s alleged accomplices Omar Denton, 29, and Javaine Watson, 23, will appear for a motion hearing as well.

Diovanni Carter, 24, charged with the June 2013 murder of Jajuan Griffin, 27, will appear for a pretrial hearing.

Week in Review

In brief:

One homicide was reported this week in Boston.

- This past Sunday, an unidentified male, 24, was shot to death at the intersection of School and Arcadia streets in Jamaica Plain. Authorities have not released any further details at this time.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

Jurors Find Man Innocent of Murder in 2011 Jamaica Plain Shooting

A 32-year-old Mattapan man was found innocent Thursday of killing 49-year-old Brenda Pawlowski, but still faces up to 15 years in prison on weapons charges related to the 2011 homicide.

Pawlowski’s body was discovered on Feb. 8, 2011, at 7:15 a.m. in the backyard of 21 Kenney St. in Jamaica Plain. She had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Larry Pack of Mattapan and co-defendant Christopher Howard, both 32, were believed to have driven Pawlowski from her residence in Roxbury to the scene of the crime.

Boston Police Investigate Fatal Double Shooting

A double shooting left one man dead and another injured this weekend in Boston, authorities said.

In the early hours of Sunday, June 22, Boston police officers responded to a radio call at the intersection of School and Arcadia streets in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood. On arrival, officers found two 24-year-old males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to Brigham and Women’ Hospital, where one was pronounced deceased. The other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

No names have been released, but cops said the incident does not appear to be random. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

Body Recovered from Boston’s Muddy River

Authorities recovered a body floating in the Boylston Street and Charlesgate East area of Boston’s Muddy River around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, state police said. The victim, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Boston police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. They ask that any related information be called in to the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

On Tuesday, June 24, Martin A. Jiminez, 44, charged with the June 2013 murder of Melissa A. Hardy, 33, is scheduled to appear in court for a status review hearing.

Brian MacDonald, 26, accused of killing 21-year-old Anthony Spaulding in January 2013, will also appear for a status review hearing.

Christopher W. Powell, 40, charged with the February 2013 murder of Corey Thompson, 44, will appear for a final pretrial hearing.

On Thursday, June 26, Edwin J. Alemany, 29, accused of killing 24-year-old Amy B. Lord in July 2013, is scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing.

Week in Review

In brief:

There were no homicides reported this week in Boston. However, the Boston Police Department released crime data Friday showing that there has been an increase in homicides during the first half of 2014. From Jan. 1 to June 15, 2014, there were 26 reported homicides — five more than were reported during the same period last year.

A spokesperson for BPD declined to comment on the findings.

Eric Barnes Released Pending Trial

A Dorchester man who was arrested for the March 2013 shooting death of 20-year-old Cambridge resident Brousseau Normil has been released on his own recognizance by a Suffolk County Superior Court judge.

Eric Barnes, 29, was granted a motion for reduction of bail by Regional Administrative Judge Jeffrey A. Locke yesterday. Under the conditions of his release, Barnes is bound to a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

Barnes, along with Kenneth Sales, 24, and Tyrone Seams, 27, was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery back in April. He is scheduled to return to court for a status disposition on Aug. 19, 2014.

Dorchester Man Receives Life for Murder of Elderly Neighbor

A 31-year-old Dorchester man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday in connection with the 2012 stabbing death of his 72-year-old neighbor, Mary Miller.

Miller was found by police on Feb. 21, 2012, at approximately 1:45 a.m. in her Codman Hill Avenue apartment after a relative called 911 to report a breaking and entering. She was announced dead at the scene.

Her upstairs neighbor Ted Nguyen pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the homicide. He received an additional 10 years for burglary.

Week in Review

In brief:

One homicide was reported this week in Boston. On Sunday night Craig Marriro, 48, was shot to death outside of 131 Harold Street in Roxbury. According to police commissioner William B. Evans, Derrick Wood, 32, is expected to be charged with Marriro’s murder.
