On Sunday night, Craig Marriro, 48, of Roxbury, was shot to death outside his family home at 131 Harold Street in Roxbury.
Twenty years ago, his brother, Darrell Marriro, was murdered in nearly the exact same place. From the Boston Globe:
[Craig Marriro] staggered away in the opposite direction that his brother took, collapsing at the corner of Harold and Harrishof streets, where another brother pleaded with him to fight for his life.
“His brother was standing right here over him,” said Randy Green, a neighbor who watched Charles Marriro tend to Craig and tell him: “Just hang in there. Keep talking to me.”
On Monday, police commissioner William B. Evans said Derrick Wood, 32, will be charged with Craig Marriro’s murder.
Wood was arrested Sunday night after a brief police chase and is currently being held on $250,000 cash bail for charges of unlawful possession of a firearm as a second offense, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm and trespassing.
Marriro’s murder is the 26th homicide in Boston this year and the second homicide victim of the weekend. Michael DePina, 29, was shot and killed Friday night in Dorchester.
