Michael “Fresh” Stallings was convicted of involuntary manslaughter today for causing the death of 40-year-old Kelvin Rowell, who had a fatal asthma attack while fleeing what prosecutors called a ”barrage of gunfire” near Blue Hill Avenue and Pasadena Road in 2012, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said Stallings, 26, is an H Block gang member and fired into a group of men on the night of Jan. 23, 2012, aiming for members of rival gang Castlegate.Read more
Two men were found guilty of second-degree murder charges in the February 2013 shooting death of 26-year-old Courtney Jackson at the Dudley MBTA station, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

Jamel Bannister, 24, and Brian Cooper, 27, were both sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years for killing Jackson, according to the DA’s office. Cooper pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while Bannister was convicted by a jury.
Bannister and Cooper faced first-degree murder charges in Jackson’s death but were found guilty of second-degree murder instead. A first-degree murder conviction in Massachusetts results in a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
According to the DA’s office, Cooper and Bannister engaged in a verbal altercation with Jackson. As Jackson turned to board a bus, Cooper shot him twice. Read more

A shooting around 1 a.m. Saturday killed Larry Moore, 27, according to Boston police. Moore was pronounced dead at the scene, near 70 Weaver Way in Roxbury.
No arrests had been made as of May 27, according to a police spokesman.
The high-profile trial of Edwin Alemany, accused of kidnaping and murdering 24-year-old Amy Lord on July 23, 2013, as she left her apartment for an early-morning workout, began May 20 and continues this week at Suffolk Superior Court.
In addition to first-degree murder, Alemany, 30, is accused of kidnapping, armed carjacking, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of armed robbery while masked, armed assault with intent to rape, stealing by confining, arson of a motor vehicle, and assault and battery, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Almost two years after 23-year-old Brianna J. Bigby was gunned down in a double shooting while sitting in a car on a Saturday afternoon in Roxbury, a second suspect was arraigned for her murder.

Rasheem Christian, 24, pleaded innocent Tuesday to first-degree murder for the June 1, 2013, shooting that left Bigby dead at the scene and her 23-year-old companion wounded but alive. The pair were sitting in a sedan near 310 Walnut Avenue in Roxbury, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Read more
A 33-year-old man shot April 8 in Dorchester died later the same night, police announced this week.
Jeromie Johnson was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound near 50 Richfield St. at 8:20 p.m. and was taken to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to a Boston Police Department press release dated May 12. Read more
A man was found dead on Tuesday after police responded to calls for a person shot near 332 Harvard Street in Dorchester.
When officers arrived at the Dorchester apartment building, a fire had broken out in the first floor unit. Once the fire was cleared, officers entered the apartment and found the 37-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. He was soon pronounced dead on the scene by EMS. Read more
