Man found dead in Roxbury fire had stab wounds

A man who died in a Roxbury fire on October 10 had suffered multiple stab wounds, police reported.

Members of the Boston Fire Department found the male victim inside the dwelling. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Boston EMS, police said.

After further investigation, police has revealed that the victim is 69-year-old Santo Alcadio Bernabel, of Hazelton, PA.

At about 8:58 PM, on Friday, October 10, 2014, Officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 104 Winthrop Street in Roxbury for a report of a fire. On arrival, Members of the Boston Fire Department were on-scene and actively engaged in firefighting. Members of the Boston Fire Department informed officers that a male victim was located inside the dwelling. The victim was pronounced at the scene by Boston EMS.

Further investigation, has revealed that the victim, 69-year-old Santo Alcadio Bernabel, of Hazelton, PA, suffered multiple stab wounds. As of tonight, Boston Police Homicide Detectives along with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office have retained jurisdiction in this case. Boston Police and Boston Fire Arson Investigators are conducting a thorough investigation surrounding the cause of the fire.
