One person has died after a double shooting Tuesday morning in Mattapan.
The shooting happened around 8:45 a.m. near 23 Wilmore St. in Mattapan. The victims were both males in their late teens. Police transported both to the hospital, where one later succumbed to his injuries and died. The other has been treated for non-life threatening injuries.
In a press conference, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said investigators are looking for a black Acura that was seen fleeing the scene, the Boston Herald reports. The car sped off down Wilmore Street, taking a right on Norfolk Street towards Blue Hill Avenue.
Two people are believed to have been inside the car, according to WCVB.
Two people familiar with the investigation told the Boston Globe that someone in the Acura asked the two victims where they were from before opening fire.
A Good Samaritan ran to help the victims after hearing six shots.
He rushed out of his house and saw one of the victims running down the street, screaming that he had been shot. He saw the second person, more seriously hurt, “crouch down and then fall down.’’
Police are reviewing video from security cameras in the area, but at the press conference Evans emphasized investigators will need the public’s help to solve the crime. Anyone who witnessed or knows anything about the shooting or the suspects is asked to call the Boston Police Department’s homicide detectives at (617) 343-4470.
