Jael Romero pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter after a 2013 shooting that caused the deaths of Ana Cruz, Felix Garcia Jr and Brian Tirado at a Grove Hall house party. Romero’s plea resulted in a state prison sentence of 13 to 16 years, avoiding a trial where he would be charged with three counts of second-degree murder.
According to BPDNews.com, three victims were found at 153 Intervale St. in Roxbury at 4:18 a.m. on June 22, 2013. In November of that year, the grand jury returned three second-degree murder charges against Romero, as well as a charge for unlawful possession of a firearm.
A press release from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said Romero admitted to being at the party on Intervale St. where he and a friend became engaged in a fight with a rival group. The release said Romero’s friend sustained six stab wounds and cuts before Romero pulled out a handgun and fired five shots into the crowd, hitting Tirado once, and Garcia and Cruz twice. All three victims from Dorchester later died of their wounds.
