A man was found dead inside a Roslindale apartment Monday morning, police announced. News reports say the unidentified father of three died of head trauma.
“It was inside the apartment,” Boston Police Commissioner William Evans told reporters at the scene. “Clearly this was a targeted assault.”
Wicked Local Roslindale spoke to shaken neighbors at the scene:
Some residents, including Maria Anita Santos, who lives at 40 Brookway Road, were unsure how to get into their homes since the police tape and vehicles, including one that said “Crime Lab,” blocked the way.
Expressing disbelief that the death had occurred, Santos said she knew the man and his family as neighbors, and recalled that he would help her with her bags. She said the community along the street was friendly, gesturing to the numerous adults and children sitting or playing outside on the steamy night.
Asked how she felt about returning home after work, Santos replied, “Scared.”
