Officers responded at 3:45 p.m. to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Ramos was transported to Boston Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary information suggests that road rage played a role in the shooting, NECN reports, though police caution that the investigation is ongoing.

Abner Joseph, 52, told the Boston Globe he was inside with a client at the corner of Dudley Street and Brook Avenue when he heard gunfire.

"I heard a guy yell, 'Back up! Back up!' and then one guy spit on the other guy," Joseph told the Globe. "When he spit on him, I heard three gunshots. Pow! Pow! Pow!"

Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans spoke at the scene of the shooting:

When asked about a motive, Evans said it was too early in the investigation to know.

“He’s an older male, maybe a little too old for gangs, but we’re looking into every motive,” he said.

“As you can see, it’s an active investigation,” Evans said. “We’re looking for any information from any witnesses we can get at this time.”

Authorities could be seen scouring the area in pouring rain for more clues, and the streets were roped off by bright yellow police tape. Traffic was rerouted away from the 500 block of Dudley Street until about 5:40, when authorities cleaned up the scene.

This is not the first act of violence to mar the neighborhood. Last September, 22-year-old Raheem Robertson was fatally shot multiple times while riding his bike near 554 Dudley Street.

"It [is] difficult, especially for people who work in the area," Eduin Lopez, who runs Margarita's Beauty Salon on Dudley Street and overheard Saturday's shooting, told the Globe.
Isaac FeldbergSun, 15 Mar 2015 18:01:58 -0400http://boston.homicidewatch.org/2015/03/15/one-dead-in-possible-road-rage-shooting-on-dudley-street/Luis Ramos
