Police seek help IDing 'person of interest' in Charles Floyd murder

Boston police investigating the murder of 28-year-old Dorchester resident Charles Floyd have asked for the public's help in identifying a "person of interest."

The man is wearing a black North Face jacket in images released by BPD. "He is not wanted at this time," said Officer Rachel McGuire, a Boston Police spokeswoman. "We just need the ID and then we can go from there."

Floyd was found stabbed on a sidewalk in the area of 8 Shetland Street in Roxbury on the evening of Jan. 26th, 2015, by snowplow operators about to plow the lot. He was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Floyd, a father of two, was a rap artist with a career that was just starting to take off, his family told the Boston Globe. He often worked more than one job in order to support his children.

Charles Floyd, 28, was found stabbed in the area of 8 Shetland Street in Roxbury Monday evening, police said.

Floyd was discovered lying in the street at about 8:55 p.m., suffering from apparent stab wounds. Boston EMS transported him to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. He was first identified by Universal Hub.

The incident occurred across the street from the headquarters of the Boston Police Patrolmen's Association, according to Universal Hub. Floyd's body was first discovered on the sidewalk by snowplow operators about to plow the lot.

Police confirmed that Floyd's death is being actively investigated as a homicide, and anyone with information is strongly urged to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

Though police did not name the victim, his family and a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation identified him.

At about 8:55 PM on Monday, January 26, 2015, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person down in the area of 8 Shetland Street in Roxbury.

Upon arrival in the area, officers observed a male victim lying in the street suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was transported by Boston EMS to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased a short time after arrival.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.
